I.============================(VERSION HISTORY)=============================

	1.0D (12-25-98)    Demo release

                            _____________________
Ia.========================(HOW TO USE THIS PATCH)==========================

	Quite simple. You need the following to apply this patch and then be
able to play the game:

			-SNEStool.exe (included in this zip)
			-FF2demo.ips (the hacked patch)
			-A rom of FF2US (easy as hell to find on the Net...
			  go to any search engine, type "FF2" and type
			  "rom"... if you still can't find it you're SoL, cuz
			  I won't send it to you).
			-an emulator to play the game on (http://zophar.net
			  --go to the SNES section and download ZSNES).

	Okies, now stick SNEStool, the FF2 rom, and the ips file all in the
same directory. Run SNEStool, and select the option "Use IPS". Then select
FF2demo.ips. Then select your FF2 rom. And you're done! All you need to do
to play your game is to run your modified FF2 rom in ZSNES, and enjoy the
show!

II.==========================(AN INTRODUCTION)==============================

	Ballzysoft Industries is a one-man group devoted to hacking classic
video games. A new twist to old games, as it were. This is done because
of the childhood memories I have of playing these great games, and now,
today, reliving the adventures. Only now it is I who calls the shots. I
hope that you, too, enjoy the products of Ballzysoft Industries as much as
much as I helped to create and reinvent them.

	"Final Fantasy 2 - The Non-Cheeseball Edition" is what I hope to be
the game people will remember me by. I always considered FF2 (or FF4 as it's
known in Japan) to be the best of the series. The only problem was the poor
dialogue and omission of many things that were in the original. I am not
attempting to retranslate the game, but instead, having been inspired from
playing the original, I hope to recreate the game with 100% original
dialogue. Expect conversations to be much longer, and new details and
characterization to arise from this.

	This is a gigantic task to undertake, so I have recruited help to get
me through the rough spots. Even with this, the alteration of the dialogue
will be so great that I cannot fathom a 100% complete release. But after
publicizing the project, I felt I owed those out there who have supported me
by releasing a demo... to show the world just exactly what I plan on doing.
And this, my readers, is exactly what this is.

IV.==============================(CHANGES)==================================

	In this demo, the dialogue has been 100% altered. Hidden items and
treasures have been altered, and the title screen... well... just take a look
at it for yourself. :) Braxton's work is not in this demo release, because
I feel it is too preliminary to show. Expect for characters to be altered in
any future demos or releases. Sorry Brax. Your Cain/Chris Penn will have to
wait.  :)
	In case you were wondering, the text set-up is rather jury-rigged for
the demo. No text banks were created; we just used what we had, and with
sometimes I used DTE, and sometimes I didn't. It's pretty sloppy work, but
it got the job done. Do NOT expect it to be like that for the final release.
	And now, the bugs. If you have the Namingway change your name, the
old name will still appear in dialogue. This is a result of inserting the
script before Thingy could insert DTE. I left it as it was, because It'd just
be too much of a hassle to fix it. So don't change your characters names.
Blah to ya. And also, don't play past Mist Cave. The demo ends there.
TheGun wanted to put a coolio crash message for Mist Cave, but only with
minimal success; ZSNES crashes all right, but no coolio message. :( So
umm... just stop playing at Mist Cave. There.
                                  ______
V.===============================(STATUS)===================================

	What you see is what you get. Don't expect another release any time
soon.

VI.==========================(SPECIAL THANKS)===============================

	Here we go, and in no particular order:

	-Albert Perez, for showing me how to make that kickass title screen,
	 and then doing the ASM mods for me after I begged and whimpered at
	 his feet.

	-TheGun and Braxton. Dunno why, tho

	-Squaresoft. For making my dreams come true.

	-Necrosaro.  THINGY DTE INSERTION!!!  WAHOOO!!@#$%

	-J2E Translations. You showed us what we should have gotten in 1991.

	-Vagabond. Your bitching has made me cautious in my writing, and
	 perhaps, save me from going overboard in my words.

	-Jair and Bastard Son, for contributing the savestates (more are
	 always welcome from anyone!).

	-And to everyone else who has shown their interest and support in
	 the making of this project. Y'all are the reason why I like doing
	 this.
