===================================================
What's new in the third alpha release of Q-emuLator
===================================================

A bit faster
============
Emulation is slighty faster. The emulator is no more entirely written
in C.

Sound emulation
===============
Sound emulation has been rewritten and is now more similar to the
original QL's beeps. There's still a problem with beep sequences.
Q-emuLator now runs even if DirectX is not installed, but in this case
sound emulation is not available.

STOP instruction
================
A bug in the emulation of the 68008's STOP instruction prevented
proper execution of some QL games (example: Knight Flight). Fixed.
Minor bugs have been fixed also in the ROXL, ROXR, ASL and ASR
instructions.

File system
===========
Fixed some bugs in the file system (both for Windows files and for QDOS
formatted floppy disks).

Configuration files
===================
You can now store the Q-emuLator's settings in 'configuration files'.
However, configuration files don't keep track of MDV directories, yet.
Configuration files allow rom files to reside anywhere and to be named
as you like.

SER driver
==========
A first implementation of the SER driver is available.

Other new features
==================
You can skip the initial QL memory test and instruct the program to
automatically start an emulation session when it starts. (See the
'Configuration files' chapter in the manual).

IMPORTANT
=========
If you use a 16K 'BACK_ROM' file with Q-emuLator, you will notice that
it is no more automatically loaded by the emulator. To fix this
problem copy the 'default.qcf' file from the 'For BACK_ROM users'
directory to the directory where the QemuLator.exe program resides.

For more information
====================
For information about all Q-emuLator's topics, including those reported
in this readme file, please refer to the Q-emuLator's manual.
The manual is a Word 8 file.
