roms, roms, roms, roms, roms... it's all you crazy damn fools
think about :)

If i had a pound for every email asking where the roms can
be found, i would have 3422... exactly!

So here is your guide to getting the BBC ROMS to run
Horizon...

1) First visit www.emulation.net

This is a top website dedicated to emulators for the
Apple Macintosh (what's that I hear you ask...)
but the roms are here. In particular, go to page

   http://www.emulation.net/bbcmicro/index.html

Download the file to your desktop. The file will be saved
on your PC as a SIT file (i.e. Stuffit format which is like
the Mac's equivalent of ZIP for PC)

2) To unstuff (or uncompress) the SIT file, visit

   http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/expander_win_login.html

and download Aladdin Expander for Windows.

3) Install Aladdin Expander

4) Within the Aladdin Expander program, click 'View' menu
and then 'Options...'. Click 'More' to see more tabs.
Click 'Cross Platform'. For 'Convert text files to
   Windows format' option, click 'NEVER'.

Now drag and drop the SIT file onto the Stuffit Expander
interface. If your SIT file was on the desktop then your
uncompressed roms will appear in a folder on the desktop

Check the sizes of both files. Each one must be *exactly*
16384 bytes. If not, something has gone wrong...
make you've set 'Convert text files to
Windows format' setting to NEVER as instructed above.

5) Remove the .txt extensions from the filenames of both
files. The files must, i stress MUST, be named as
'Osrom' and 'Basic'. Your Windows environment *hides* certain
extensions by default (goto 'View' menu, 'Folder Options'
from any desktop window to change this).

I recommend you never hide any extensions for any file
as it can be soooo confusing :)

6) Put these 2 files in the ROMs folder in Horizon folder.

7) Double click Horizon and you should see the familiar
BBC startup screen. Nice, eh? :D

That's it. I suppose now you want to ask me where you
can find games and stuff. Well, look at the links
from my website or ask in the comp.emulators.misc
newsgroup or try the search engines (e.g. Yahoo,
Lycos, Excite etc...)

Some websites will archive stuff with .INF files.
Read the manual.txt for more info about this.

Good luck!!!!
