Disclaimer
----------

This software is provided without warranty etc, don't blame me if nasty things happen
when you use this software.
By using this software you agree to these conditions.

This software is FREE! If you sell it, you deserve a punch in the mouth. If you have paid anything for it, you are stupid.

I do not warrant use of this emulator illegally. This software is for use by those who OWN an original pacman or mspacman machine and would like to see the game from another perspective.

Pacman and MsPacman are trademarks of Namco or Midway depending on where you live and/or what roms you own.

If you obtained this software by any other means than downloading it from the pacdx website (or one of the approved mirrors, see bottom of this document), you are involved in a criminal act, under which you can be prosecuted for.

This includes CD's, floppy disks and other permanent/non-permanent media.

If you do not agree, now is the time to delete this software.

System Requirements:
--------------------

*** UNKOWN FOR THIS BETA ***

If this software does not run on your machine, please e-mail us.

Roms
----

This software is USELESS without the original program roms, which are protected by copyright law.
I will not, shall not and cannot provide you with the roms to use with this emulator. You should obtain yours from the pacman machine that you own.

The roms this emulator runs on are stated in a text file in a sub-directory called "roms":

*ROMS MUST NOT BE IN ZIPPED ARCHIVES*

If the emulator cannot load the necessary roms, it will not run, and will tell you so.

Not all pacman romsets are supported, and as such, renaming of the incorrect romset will cause pacdx problems. Try to ensure you have the correct set before reaching for that e-mail program to bitch that "it doesn't work"

Controls:

3 - Coin
1 or 2 - Start
Cursors or joystick - control pacmans direction
S - Service mode (and machine reset)
D - Switch to "DX" mode
X - Switch to "Original" mode
Escape - exit emulator

F12 - Take screenshot, which will be saved as pacdxNN.pcx in the pacdx directory, and will overwrite existing screenshots with the same name.
*** Screenshot function does not work properly in this beta ***

F1-F5 - Change Frameskip rate, F1 = Full frames, F5 - Only show 1 in 5 frames

Command line options
--------------------
Usage: emudx gamename [options]

gamename can be:

pacman
mspacman

acceptable options are:

-nosound - disable sound

-joystick - enable (or try to) joystick support. EmuDX will try to autodetect a joystick.

-fskip n - force emudx to frameskip (where n is between 0 and 4)

-trans n - transparency factor of ghosts, or none for no transparency.
n can be between 1 and 255, where 1 is the most transparent, 255 is almost
              solid

-nodx - run the game with original graphics

Known Problems
--------------
As this is a beta release, the following may not apply

2nd intermission slight colour problem. (pacman)
The Screenshot function can cause your machine to lock up under some circumstances, so beware.
3rd Intermission screen (pacman) can cause an allegro crash.
The game locks up if not played for a while, this is due to unknown.

Thanks to the beta testers
