This file contains release notes pertaining to the gleam! source, the date
is April 16, 2001.

The last public release of gleam! was on October 30, 2000, and the last
modification date was somewhere around the end of December.

What is included:
code/gleam-release/ - The source for gleam!.
libdream/ - written by Dan Potter
libc/ - written by Dan Potter
vmsfs/ - written by Marcus Comstedt? (sorry I can't remember).

To build you will need a sh4 gcc compiler.

gleam! currently builds for two targets, X11 and dreamcast. This is set in
the Makefile for the gleam! codebase.

DO NOT EMAIL ME ASKING HOW TO COMPILE THIS. I DON'T CARE IF YOU CAN'T.

Most of the code was written by myself and myself alone, the exception to
this are the libraries (libdream, libc, and vmsfs) and the M6502 cpu core,
written Marat Fayzull.

Many people asked why I just didn't port an already existing emulator? Well,
at the time of gleam!'s creation I had already worked on xNes, a fairly
portable emulator by then, and I was interested in the NES's internals. I
was then convinced I could do better myself, so I tried; and it seems to
have failed miserably. It would be a great joy to me if this was continued
legitimately (no fscking katana crap, ok?).

If anything else, I truely enjoyed working on gleam!, and especially all the
donations from people and the support from the Dreamcast development
"scene," if you will. It's a shame I never finished working on this, but the
time is come to put it to rest, I am going to school in the fall (FSU or UT
[was accepted to both ;)]) and I want to focus on work and friends and
having fun this summer instead of dwelling on past projects.

With that said, I hope everyone who reads this enjoys the source as well as
the binary and definately as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

Comments, flames, hate mail?
